Drancy (prononcé) is a French commune in the métropole du Grand Paris, located in the département of Seine-Saint-Denis in the Île-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Drancéens. The second most populous town in the arrondissement du Raincy after Aulnay-sous-Bois and ahead of Noisy-le-Grand, 5th at département level and 18th at regional level, it was the 73rd town in France in 2015.
A little history
The history of Drancy is thought to begin as far back as the Neolithic period. There is indeed a circulation route, the route des Seuils, which roughly corresponds to the RN 2. Men settled in the vicinity of this road, creating a track through the woods that is none other than the present-day rue de la République. Several lieux-dits confirm this possible prehistoric presence, such as la Haute Borne, le Buisson Barré, or later still, around the 7th century BC.
