A little history
Douchy is situated on the site of an ancient Roman road. The earliest written records show that in 937, Arnould le Vieux, comte de Valenciennes, gave the monks of the abbaye Saint-Pierre de Gand, founded by saint Amand, a villa called Dulciaca with its dependencies. King Louis IV d'Outremer confirmed this donation in 950. The village comprised at that time a church, a few households and the seigneurial estate.
