Cléry-Saint-André covers 18.1 km², lies between 84 and 107 m above sea level and had 3,596 inhabitants in the 2023 census.

Cléry-Saint-André is a French commune situated in the département du Loiret in the région Centre-Val de Loire. It is best known for the basilique Notre-Dame de Cléry, which contains the tomb of Louis XI. Exposed to a degraded oceanic climate, it is drained by the Ardoux, the Vieille Rivière and various other small watercourses.

A little history

During Antiquity, a cemetery stood between the departmental road and the hamlet of Saint-André (a medieval cemetery succeeded it). The hamlet of Saint-André appeared near the old Roman road known as the chemin Rémy (or chemin Romain). On the edge of the natural region of Sologne on the Butte des Élus, Gallo-Romans as well as Germanic peoples left traces of their passage. Near the clos du Vivier, the remains of Roman dwellings and coins dating from Claude, Trajan, Néron and Adrien (1st and 2nd centuries) were found.
