Cazouls-lès-Béziers is a French commune situated in the south-west of the département of Hérault, in the Occitanie region. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Orb, the Rieutort, the ruisseau de la Guiraude, the ruisseau de la Prade, the ruisseau de Millau, the ruisseau Rhonel and by various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a remarkable natural heritage composed of three natural zones of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The village was founded in the 1st century AD by the Romans. It is situated in an archaeologically rich area. Indeed, in the surrounding land, Gallo-Roman sarcophagi, jewellery and other metal objects, and remains of dwellings from the same period have been found. Also known, not far from the village, is a standing stone resembling a menhir and two Gallo-Roman sites, the villas des Muscadelles and des Trois-Tables.
