A little history
This commune is a division of the ancient parish of l'Armorique de Plusquellec (a parish that emerged from the great land clearance of the 13th century). It is known for its strong communist presence up to the present day and for having been a place of revolt of the bonnets rouges in the 17th century. The site of Callac is crossed by an old Roman road that ran from Vorgium (Carhaix) to Tréguier. A Roman camp, established on the site of the future château, protected it.
