Brebières is a French commune situated in the Pas-de-Calais department, in the Hauts-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Brebiérois. The commune is a member of the communauté de communes Osartis Marquion.
A little history
Human occupation of the site is very ancient. In 2008, the new ZAC des Béliers, covering 60 hectares, was the subject of excavations and revealed an important site occupied by Gauls and Celts. 17 hectares were excavated and three sites confirmed this presence. The first site revealed three agricultural enclosures of Gaulish origin dating from the 2nd century BC, each composed of five buildings. The second revealed an enclosure surrounded by two concentric ditches dating from the 1st century BC.
