A little history
The remains of domestic pottery and Roman roof tiles found in Bondues attest to its Gallo-Roman origins. In the 5th century, in order to repel the attacks of Frankish peoples, a fort with a solid and tall tower was erected in Bondues, known as the Fort du Pot-de-Fer. It stood for seven hundred years. A tavern called the Pot-de-Fer, built on its ruins, has since disappeared.
