A little history
The village is mentioned in 1260. A Protestant temple stood in what is now the rue de la Presche. Its demolition was undertaken at the request of King Louis XIV, and no trace of it remains apart from the name of its street. On 11 November 1776, a racecourse at Sermaise was inaugurated by King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette d'Autriche. The comte d'Artois ran a magnificent thoroughbred there.
