Sur le plan historique et culturel, la commune est dans le Pays Montalbanais, correspondant à la partie méridionale du Quercy. Exposée à un climat océanique altéré, elle est drainée par le canal latéral à la Garonne, le ruisseau des Tauris, le ruisseau de Lamothe et par divers autres petits cours d'eau.
