Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is watered by the Aveyron and the Tarn, as well as by numerous small streams.
A little history
The founding site of the town is bounded on three sides by watercourses, the Tarn to the west, the Tescou to the south-west (as far as its confluence with the Tarn) and the ruisseau de la Garrigue (or Mandoune) to the north-east (as far as its confluence with that same river). The occupation of the site during the Prehistoric and pre-Roman periods of Antiquity has left few archaeological traces.
