A little history
An ordinance of 2 February 1825 united the commune of Breuil (or Breuilles) with Bernay, and by prefectural order of 12 December 1972 taking effect on 1 January 1973, Saint-Martin-de-la-Coudre joined Bernay to form Bernay-Saint-Martin. The current commune is part of the associated communes of Charente-Maritime.
