A little history
In Antiquity, the location was already a crossing point used to connect the region to the seaside. This settlement became in 530 the property of the comtesse Mathilde, great-great-granddaughter of Flandebert, chief of the Morins and the Ménapiens. Walbert, great-great-grandson of Mathilde and comte d'Arkes, erected on the advice of the abbés Audomar and Bertin a church dedicated to Saint Martin, close to his château, in 646.
