A little history
Although the first written mention of Villepreux dates back to a charter of Charles le Chauve dated 856, this does not rule out the existence of inhabitants before that period, as evidenced by the discovery of a Merovingian cemetery at the top of the nursery of the école d'horticulture Le Nôtre, at the end of the 19th century (today a Centre de formation professionnelle). From the 11th century to 1789, Villepreux had 34 successive lords. Many of them connect the history of the town to the "Grande Histoire".
