It was created on 1 January 2015 through the merger of six communes, under the legal framework of communes nouvelles. The communes of Chassé, La Fresnaye-sur-Chédouet, Lignières-la-Carelle, Montigny, Roullée and Saint-Rigomer-des-Bois became communes déléguées.
