A little history
A parish seigneury (families de Bessé, then de Vendosmoys), attached to the seigneury de Courtanvaux (1586) by Gilles de Souvré, maréchal de France, marquis de Courtanvaux. It became an industrial centre from the 18th century onwards, with cotton goods in 1736 and a paper mill in 1824.
