A little history
The remains of the megalithic necropolis of Peyrehaut bear witness to a human presence on the communal territory 5,000 years ago. A Gallo-Roman aqueduct, dating from the 1st century, started from the lieu-dit Carbonnieux in Villenave-d'Ornon. It then passed through the lieu-dit Sarcignan, where remains of the structure were discovered in 1973. The structure was extended towards the lieu-dit Madère, to supply water to the Roman city of Burdigala (today Bordeaux).
