A little history
The village of Enval, situated to the north of the town of Vic-le-Comte, is home to a vast rock-shelter dwelling site from the Magdalenian period. The sandstone escarpment is more than 40 metres high and more than one kilometre long and overlooks the right bank (northern side) of the Pignols stream, which flows into the Allier less than 2 km to the west. This station currently comprises three distinct sites, the abri Durif, the abri Moliard and the abri Enval 2. The relationship between the three sites has not yet been clearly established.
