Issoire is a French commune situated in the Puy-de-Dôme department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is one of the four sub-prefectures of the department along with Ambert, Riom and Thiers. Its inhabitants are called the Issoiriens and the Issoiriennes.
A little history
Several objects dating from this period were discovered as early as 1780, including ancient urns, Gaulish and Roman coins, and Gallo-Roman funerary vases. In the Roman Empire, this territory formed part of the civitas of the Arvernes. From the 5th to the 8th century, the memory of Saint Austremoine fell into oblivion. His relics were transferred to Volvic, then to the abbaye de Mozac.
