The town has numerous shops and school and sports facilities, including a supermarket, a bakery, an amicale laïque with activities for children (gymnastics, circus, dance and hip-hop), a nursery and primary school, a stadium with a park, a gymnasium, and tourist attractions (such as the grottes de Monton and the Vierge de Monton).
A little history
In 2005, archaeological excavations confirmed the occupation of the site during the Cardial or Epicardial periods. In 2019, a series of basalt menhirs (cairn and statue-menhir) were uncovered by the services of the Inrap (Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives). The communal territory has been inhabited since Antiquity, between the puys de Corent and de Monton. The village of Monton, situated to the west of the commune, developed on a natural platform, up to the cliff against which the ramparts of the village fort would come to abut. Numerous vestiges bear witness to the life of the village, including the towers.
