Vernou-sur-Brenne is a French commune situated in the département of Indre-et-Loire, in the région of Centre-Val de Loire. It is part of the canton of Vouvray. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Loire, the Cisse, the Brenne and various other small watercourses.
A little history
Vernou already existed in 494 under the name of Vernadum. The église de Vernou-sur-Brenne was founded in the 6th century by saint Perpet. From the 15th to the 17th century inclusive, the village was called Vernou l'Archevêque. Since the 12th century, the baronnie de Vernou came under the archbishops of Tours, who would come to stay there.
