The commune is very well known for its beaches and its large summer market.
A little history
The prehistoric site of la Pinasse proves the ancient nature of settlement in the commune. The chemin de la Reyne follows an old Roman road. The fief belonged to Pierre de Bailly and then passed into the hands of the maison de Grailly. In the parish, in 1335, there was the village of Eslume and its chapel, which have since been swallowed up by the sands.
