Vaugneray is a French commune situated in the département du Rhône in the région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The commune was created on 1 January 2015 from the merger of the former commune of Vaugneray and the neighbouring commune of Saint-Laurent-de-Vaux.
A little history
The commune of Vaugneray covered 25.2 km² before, in 1852, the areas of la Croix de Part, Saint-Clair and La Brally were attached to the commune of Yzeron. Its area was then reduced to 22.38 km², until 2015. Through the merger with the commune of Saint-Laurent-de-Vaux, its territory has almost returned to its former dimensions at 25.02 km². The communal territory rises gradually up to the ridge of the Monts du Lyonnais.
