A little history
The new commune arose from the project to merge the communes of Briey, Mance and Mancieulles, the creation of which was approved by the municipal councils of the three communes. The project was initially intended to include the commune of Les Baroches, which had accepted the merger into the new commune by municipal deliberation. However, this decision met with strong opposition from the inhabitants of the commune, leading to a new vote which rejected integration into the new commune.
