A little history
The city of Troyes, historic capital of the comtes de Champagne, and with a great historical past and a rich architectural and urban heritage, was designated a Ville d'art et d'histoire on 5 June 2009. The convention was signed in February 2010. The first inhabitants to have left tangible traces of their presence are the Tricasses, a tribe of Gaule lyonnaise mentioned from the 1st century BC in the writings of Greek geographers, even though a few megaliths bear witness to an older settlement.
