La Chapelle-Saint-Luc is a French commune situated in the département of Aube in the Grand Est region. Adjoining Troyes, it is the 3rd largest town in Aube by population.
A little history
The village is mentioned in 1147 for tithes owed to the Abbaye Saint-Loup de Troyes but also in a papal bull of 1164, nonas de Capella sancti Luce. The fief belonged to the comte de Champagne, came under Saint-Sépulcre, and there was a comtal then royal mairie. A fortified house is mentioned in 1399. In 1442, it is described in 1779 as a "motte and seigneurial seat of the said land, upon which are constructed buildings consisting of a large main residence, built in stone, stables, byres, a barn, a ground-level dovecote, with a courtyard and the whole enclosed by moats". A cartouche of the arms of the Foulx family remains, which is preserved at the musée de Troyes. It was destroyed in 1842.
