A little history
The Roman road from Troyes to Auxerre passes through the commune and has a branch towards the settlement of Vertault via the road that may be the Chemin-des-Lombards. Under the direction of saint Frobert, the monks founded the abbaye Saint-Pierre de Montier-la-Celle, which was the origin of the hamlet of Montier-la-Celle. Saint-André developed around its 16th-century church. The church features a doorway known as the "des maraîchers" portal, decorated with garlands of fruit and vegetables, attesting that at that time the village was already renowned for the cultivation of vegetables and the produce of its orchards.
