A little history
The seigneury of Sancey belonged to the comte de Champagne, who gave it upon its creation to the chapitre Saint-Etienne de Troyes in 1157. The Templars of the commanderie de Troyes had a seigneurial house situated next to the church but on the other bank of the Seine, which corresponded to this seigneury. It had an enclosed courtyard and a dovecote on 34 arpents of land. There were also mills that made use of the déversoir Saint-Julien on the course of the Seine.
