A little history
Before the development of the urban area, the village of Laxou was situated approximately four kilometres from Nancy. It was part of the généralité and the bailliage of that town, and was governed by the coutume de Lorraine. Already occupied in the Merovingian period, Laxou is mentioned for the first time in 1130 under the name of Larzuls. The abbaye de Clairlieu, in the neighbouring commune of Villers-lès-Nancy, also held certain rights in Laxou, principally vineyards that were ceded to it at the time of its establishment around 1150.
