A little history
During the last millennium before Jesus Christ, the Leuques (a Gaulish people occupying the south of Lorraine) settled on the butte Sainte-Geneviève within an enclosure of approximately 20 hectares. The position of the butte was conducive to an effective defence as well as an organised and stable communal life. They developed trade there with other tribes, such as the Médiomatriques present in the area around Metz. During the excavations of 1909 and 1910, the ruins of around thirty huts and a grain silo were uncovered.
