A little history
Thénezay has been a viguerie since the 10th century. The parish falls under the chapter of the cathédrale de Poitiers, which appointed its priest until the Revolution. In the mid-13th century, the village witnessed an event that would leave its mark on the region, the death in odium fidei of a cattle merchant by the name of Honoré (1250), beatified in 1444. From that point on, Thénezay became the site of a pilgrimage that was very well attended until the Revolution.
