A little history
The town centre, characterised by its tall stone façades, is a reminder that the commune was recognised at the beginning of the 19th century for its silk velvet weaving activity. Enlarged at the beginning of the 19th century on foundations dating from the 12th or 13th century, the church houses two paintings depicting scenes from the Old Testament, listed in the Inventaire des objets mobiliers du Rhône. To the east of the Bourg, on the plateau du Grand-Champ, remnants of the aqueduc du Gier, built by the Romans 120 years after the birth of Christ, survive. These include the arches with the Chameau and the reservoir, the Gerle. This area is classified as an espace naturel sensible.
