A little history
No trace of occupation has been attested during the Roman period, whether in archaeological or bibliographical sources. In 1230, Humbert de Montluel owned land at Sathonay, which he held in fief from the abbaye de l'Île Barbe. In the 13th century, the seigneurie de Sathonay belonged to the lords of the same name, then the Ferlay family succeeded them in the 14th and 15th centuries. Its coat of arms, black with a silver cross, became that of Sathonay-Camp.
