A little history
The town of Salmiech is very ancient. It is mentioned in a deed of exchange in 937 between Bernard, vicomte de Millau, and his sons. Salmiech was the chief town of a châtellenie forming part of the domain of the comtes de Rodez until the early 13th century, then of the baronnie de Landorre. This châtellenie comprised the parishes of Saint-Amans-de-Salmiech, Saint-Sauveur, Caplongue and Carcenac.
