A little history
For the state of the commune in the 18th century, see the work of Jacques Baurein. On the eve of the Revolution, the seigneur of the parish of Salles was Nicolas Pierre de Pichard, born in 1734. From a family of Bordeaux parliamentarians, he himself became a parliamentarian and avocat général before becoming président à mortier of the Parlement de Bordeaux at the age of 26 (in 1760). An extremely wealthy heir, he increased his estate by purchasing the seigneurie de Salles in 1764.
