A little history
Sainte-Foy-l'Argentière was for a long time the seigneurie of the famille Saint-Priest, under the authority of the comtes de Forez, and passed to the famille de Fenoyl in 1771. From the end of the 18th century, the town experienced industrial growth thanks to several initiatives by the famille de Fenoyl. The mining of coal, a porcelain manufactory, and a tileworks (today the largest in Europe) guaranteed the prosperity of Sainte-Foy throughout the 19th century. During the French Revolution, the commune temporarily bore the name Foy-sur-Brevenne.
