A little history
During the period of the Convention nationale (1792-1795), the parishes of Saint-Savin and Saint-Yzan were united to form a single commune, named during that revolutionary period Le Mont-des-Landes. This lasted barely a hundred years, as Saint-Yzan obtained its own municipal council in 1887. In the 19th century, the commune experienced a certain degree of economic development thanks to the construction of the railway line serving Blaye and Saint-Mariens, passing through Saint-Savin. In the 20th century it saw intense traffic, notably for the transport of cereals to the grain silo at Blaye.
