A little history
Whilst a few traces of human occupation on the territory can be dated to the Middle Palaeolithic (80,000 BC), it is in the Neolithic period, around 3,500 BC, that the first significant settlements are identified. Belonging to this period is a large polishing stone, discovered in 1979 in the grounds of the château d'Hodebert. Measuring 2.00 × 1.80 × 0.80 m, it displays ten parallel grooves and eleven hollows.
