Saint-Maurice is a French commune situated in the Val-de-Marne department, in the Île-de-France region. It was called Charenton-Saint-Maurice until 1843.
A little history
The existence of Charenton-Saint-Maurice is attested as early as the 11th century. In 1606, Henri IV allowed Protestants to build a temple there, which Catholics burned down in 1621. In 1623, it was restored (according to the design by Jacques de Brosse, it could hold 1,500 people). In August 1685, Catholics attempted once again to set fire to it.
