Rouy is a French commune situated in the département of Nièvre, in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. It lies at the boundary of three natural regions, the Bazois, the massif de Saint-Saulge and the Amognes.
A little history
The occupation of the commune during the Gallo-Roman period is attested by the presence of remains and objects. From 1884 to 1886, G. Luquet conducted archaeological excavations at Châtenay, at the lieu-dit Petit Jean. These brought to light a half-column decorated with figures representing naked, winged cherubs and winged victories, Roman coins and other objects.
