A little history
Positioned at the crossroads of river and overland routes, the site of Decize encouraged human settlement. The earliest traces of activity date back to the Neolithic period, as evidenced by flint implements that have been found there. During the Celtic era, Decize was an oppidum of the Éduens, known by the name of Decetia. The first mention of Decetia is given to us by Jules César, in his Commentaires sur la Guerre des Gaules.
