A little history
Sarcophagi, lance heads, knives, scramasaxes, swords, tiles, pottery and coins found in the commune attest to Gallo-Roman and Merovingian occupation. Aerial archaeology has revealed the presence of the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa on the territory of the commune. The first mention of the name Rosières (Rosieras) appears on a document dated 8 September 883, by which a certain Rodinus made a donation to the Abbaye Saint-Bertin de Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) of property, a manor with its outbuildings, paths and ditches as well as twelve serfs that he owned at Rosières, which was then no more than a modest village.
