A little history
Human presence during the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods has been confirmed by finds of flint tools from the Abbevillian, pre-Acheulean and then Acheulean periods. In the 1980s a polished Neolithic axe was found there, as well as a fairly large Acheulean handaxe. A temple erected on the cliff in honour of the god Mars is said to have borne witness to a Roman presence. It is this presence that is said to have given the commune its name.

Selling in Mers-les-Bains
Pricing in Mers-les-Bains starts by placing your property inside the €1,987 to €3,633 band rather than on the median alone. The median describes the middle of the market; condition, floor, outdoor space and energy rating decide where in the band you sit.
With 81 sales a year, Mers-les-Bains is regular without being deep. Positioning matters more here than in a dense market, because a buyer who steps back is not immediately replaced.
Briveo values your Mers-les-Bains property from the same DVF file, keeping only sales of comparable properties closest to your address, free of charge and with no obligation, then supports the sale through to the deed.
Buying in Mers-les-Bains
Reading the €1,987 to €3,633 band is a buyer’s main tool in Mers-les-Bains. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.
A stable market usually means a negotiation decided by the property itself rather than by any general trend.
Acquisition costs are budgeted on top of the price, around 8 % on an existing property, around 3 % on a new one. These are orders of magnitude; the notary computes the exact amount.
