A little history
Pottery, medals and stones indicate a Roman presence. Embankment works were probably carried out, at that time differentiating the bays of the Somme and the Authie. In 858, the Vikings, having arrived via the Baie d'Authie, left nothing but ruins. The commune of Marquenterre was created by a communal charter in 1190.
