Rives de l'Yon is a French commune situated in the département of Vendée, in the région of Pays de la Loire. Created from the merger of the communes of Chaillé-sous-les-Ormeaux and Saint-Florent-des-Bois, it was established under the commune nouvelle scheme on 1 January 2016. Its inhabitants are known as the Rivayonnais.
A little history
The idea of merging several rural communes in the south of the communauté d'agglomération of La Roche-sur-Yon arose in February 2015, following a letter from Gérard Rivoisy, mayor of Nesmy (DVD), to his counterparts and the municipal teams of the communes belonging to the syndicat intercommunal à vocation multiple (SIVOM) des coteaux de l'Yon. Established in 1981, the intercommunal body periodically brought together Chaillé-sous-les-Ormeaux, Nesmy, Le Tablier and Saint-Florent-des-Bois around shared projects such as the management of an EHPAD.
