A little history
Rié (later Riez) was an island at the origin of the settlement. There is an Early Bronze Age deposit dating from Prehistory and Antiquity. The commune preserves the memory of the passage of Louis XIII on his way to victory over the warlord Benjamin de Rohan and his troops during the Huguenot rebellions. It was the seat of a barony.
