The commune was created on 1 January 2016 by a prefectural order of 16 December 2015, through the merger of four communes, under the legal framework for new communes established by law no 2010-1563 of 16 December 2010 on the reform of local authorities. The communes of La Chapelle-d'Andaine, Couterne, Geneslay and Haleine became délégué communes and La Chapelle-d'Andaine is the chief town of the new commune.
