A little history
From the tenth century, the family de Flers headed a barony. In the eleventh century, tradition has it that two brothers, Foulques d'Aunou and Guillaume de Gasprée, married two sisters, demoiselles de Flers. Foulques d'Aunou received Flers as a dowry, the seat of the barony. The construction of the château de Flers was undertaken from the twelfth century, even though originally it consisted only of a stone and timber main building on a fortified mound surrounded by water.
