Quincieux, the town
Quincieux covers 17.7 km², lies between 167 and 196 m above sea level and had 3,679 inhabitants in the 2023 census.
Quincieux is a French commune situated in the métropole de Lyon, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its inhabitants are called the Quincerots and Quincerotes.
A little history
During the protohistoric period, notably before the Guerre des Gaules of the middle of the 1st century BC, the current territory of Quincieux most likely belonged to the Segusiaves, who occupied the right bank of the Saône and whose capital was Feurs, today in the Loire. In the Roman era, a road would have crossed the commune to link Trévoux to Chasselay, whilst a more ancient natural route may have existed to the north of the commune to cross the Saône, as would be evidenced by the discovery of a socketed lance tip at Chamalant, whilst elements of the Bronze Age, such as a pin with a discoid head decorated with a star motif, were found at Doyère.
