A little history
The commune was created on 1 January 2016 by a prefectoral order of 26 November 2015, by the merger of nine communes, under the legal framework of communes nouvelles established by law no 2010-1563 of 16 December 2010 on the reform of territorial authorities. The communes of Chênedouit, La Forêt-Auvray, La Fresnaye-au-Sauvage, Ménil-Jean, Putanges-Pont-Écrepin, Rabodanges, Les Rotours, Saint-Aubert-sur-Orne and Sainte-Croix-sur-Orne became communes déléguées and Putanges-Pont-Écrepin is the chef-lieu of the new commune.
