A little history
Pouillon is an ancient Gallo-Roman vicus established as an entrenched camp. The village was built on either side of the Roman road linking Bordeaux to Pampelune. The Roman presence lasted five centuries. The discovery of tools (worked stones) from the Palaeolithic period on the tuc de Benaruc proves the long-standing nature of human presence in the village.
